Hi I bought this 1963 chevy grain truck with exce3llent wood and dump box works great. I started to have trouble with a compression leak, massive between head and block, after removing intake and exchaust manifold the head is next, IS there any other 6 cylinder that I can swap the manifolds> I want to make it a car hauler down the road, any help would be great. thanks

Hi welcome!!! I just wanted to let you know that you posted in the wrong section on the forum an in a section that has hardly any traffic so that people who know more information could help you might not see your thread an bypass it being in the pre-47 era section.
Go to the 60-66 Chevy/GMC section since yours is a 63 an PLENTY of us guys will help you gladly. But for your question do you know if your C40 is a 292 or a 250? 292 an 250 parts a lot interchange between the 2. |

Re: 63 c40 chevy grain truck 6cylinder help
194-230-250-292 will swap intake and exhaust manifolds...292 had a slightly larger exhaust manifold on the C-40 C50 C60 trucks. Your 6 banger is probably a 292 so what I'd do is find another intake and buy a brand new exhaust manifold from LMC or The Truck and Car Shop. You can tell if yours is a 292 by looking at the side covers...if they're 6 inches in height its a 292...if they're 4 inches in height....230...but I think the 292 and 283 were the only options for that truck in that year.
