Re: Introduction and 2wd Blazer in progress
I don't think I'd noticed the gas filler door before. What did it come off of?

Re: Introduction and 2wd Blazer in progress
One of the few little tricks I did that unless you really look and know these old heaps, you might miss. Came off of a 06 Silverado. Here it is in raw form.
1892 - I will get you some T/G pics. I am currently out of town and don't have what you need on my pc. Last edited by gclark1; 06-25-2014 at 09:21 PM. Reason: add a pic |

Re: Introduction and 2wd Blazer in progress
Thanks a lot guys. I continue to appreciate the comments!
1892 - this one os per your request. If you want or need more pictures of the gate jamb, send me a personal message with your email and I will send directly to you. Still have a couple of mechanical things to wrap up, but did take my headliner and door panels to the upholstery shop yesterday. Trying to stay ahead of the game a bit... |

Re: Introduction and 2wd Blazer in progress
I put about an 1/8 of a mile on it today. First time it has rolled without me pushing it in over a year. Everything worked and there were no fires, so I call it a success! Since I had it out in the sunshine, I figured I should take a picture.

Re: Introduction and 2wd Blazer in progress
Hey thanks a lot guys. It was a very nervous moment putting it in drive and going to the end of the block. Soooo much time and effort has gone into this build over what is now 28 months in my garage. Thanks for the comments!! Once I get the real exhaust on it and can drive with more confidence, I will post a video so you can hear it. Until then, look for the rest of the glass to be installed as well as the headliner and all assoicated trim next.

Re: Introduction and 2wd Blazer in progress
Still at it and nearly done! Got the glass installed, the headliner back from upholstery and all trim to hold it installed. Made some rear panels as well as a nice tailgate panel and gave them to the upholstery guy too. Took it out for a short drive and stopped to take a quick photo. Getting so close...

Re: Introduction and 2wd Blazer in progress
Thanks again guys. It is almost cool enough to drive if you call 108 cool. I am hoping for completion in about 4 weeks and then it should be cool to at least go out and have some fun in it. I got the exhaust done, the AC hooked up and charged, passed emissions, then installed the grille. I have put about 50 miles on it now and it seems to be pretty close to being ready to make a freeway run. My interior guy 'Stitchin by Steve', has a lot of my parts now and is working toward taking the Blazer in a couple of weeks to wrap it up and be done with it. Just gotta show you a pic with the grille...

Re: Introduction and 2wd Blazer in progress
You guys all know that we do not have this sickness of wanting to build something so that we can listen to others say good things about it. We build them because we enjoy the journey. There is just something about taking something old and making it better than it was when it was new. I gotta tell you though, when I read the few comments from you guys that have posted about my Blazer, I really get a kick out of it.
Once again guys - thanks for your nice comments. You know these are a ton of work so it is nice to hear you guys appreciate that. I hope to be able to show you the interior in a few short weeks. |
