Boyd's Welding Fuel Tank Question
Just picked up a 67-72 Boyd's Welding fuel tank for my 65 LWB Fleetside and I'm wondering if it is a straightforward install or if I'll have to modify anything to get it to fit. Also, I'm running a new 355 chevy small block, carbed. Besides longer fuel lines is there anything I need to add to make this replacement tank work with my engine and stock fuel gauge? Thanks in advance for the info!

Would be best to run at least 3/8 fuel line all the way,30 ohm sending unit and you should be good to go.! Are you going to use electric fuel pump or the mechanical ? may have a problem on the suction side that far away. Used a elec. and a regulator with mine If you use the electric , mount it as close to the tank as you can.They push better than they pull fuel.!!

To get the 67-72 tank to fit in my 1966.....
The angled crossmember in the rear will need a VERY slight relief in it... (it just gets near/into the corner of the tank.... ) angle grinder and a paint marker.... and maybe 1/16-1/8" relief.... (it is very minor... and takes so little time to get such a nice tank to fit) (top right corner of tank in this picture is the 'hiccup') Mine fit perfect otherwise after 15 seconds of relief Build quality from Boyd and Service from AZ Perf were top notch

I removed the small crossmember when I put my tank in.
Didn't have to grind anything else. One thing I did do though is weld nuts to the frame, so if needed I could easily drop the tank without having to somehow get a wrench on the inside of the frame between the tank and frame rail, which seems like it would be almost impossible without removing the bed. My pump is in-tank, so if yours is external it might not be as big of risk. |

cross member removal not necessary though.. although does look better... I still had plenty of clearance after install for my roll over vent....

Any shots of the tank installed with a bed and bumper on. I'm afraid it will hang to low and you see to much of it from behind

The tank is there... just have to look hard
You really have to get down and look at it to see really alot of it.... No pictures from 5 feet away at eye level... but you won't see much of it... obviously the further away the easier it is to see.... Here is a straight on from teh bottom of the tank.... so back up when looking at your truck... when you see half the axle pumpkin cover... is when you would start seeing the bottom of the tank.
