To faux-tina or not to faux-tina...

I bought a cheap old school syphon style gun from Harbor Freight. It did the trick. I also wet sanded and buffed the paint when I finished with 1500 grit paper and a Harbor Frieght buffer.

i have to agree when all else fails hot rod black nothing beats it best part is if you mess up sand and repaint that spot and you would never know

oh i seen this coming careful guys this is a thread on paint dont take it down the wrong road im in the process of doing kinda faux paint job too but in hot rod black mine is just going to look like it was done years ago if you want to do it just paint hot rod black dry sand with 600 grit very lightly then wet sand with 600 grit then dry it and clean it and rub with 0000 steel wool to smooth any orange peel or scratches then you end up with a silky smooth suede look

That's what I thought was kinda cool about that black GMC with the blue showing through.
It'd be like the truck was originally blue, but someone painted it RatRod black at one time, and over the years the blue is wearing through.
I personally think many of the faux jobs are cool.

Here is Lakeroadster's which was also done with rustolemm.

x2 the trucks are over 40 yrs old sure restore but dont make trailer queens i always thought the idea behind getting these trucks was to make em cool, rad,outa this world ...

this Schwinn ( I know its not a truck) this is all the paint that was on it when I got it. I simple green and scotch brited it then wet sanded with 600 and satin cleared it
