1964 C10 Custom - Heater Pull Knob

I am new to classic trucks and just purchased one last week.

I have been checking LMC Trucks to find a heater pull knob. I could be missing things; but I did not see one listed. I have not been successful with other sources I have tried.

Does anyone know of another source? My knob does not have any bite yet and comes off when you pull it off.

Howdy,

make sure you read the Announcement posts at the top of the forum... they are the guidelines/rules for things around here.

To start learning about 1960-66 Chevrolet/GMC trucks, you should start exploring your 60-66 FAQ Index. To learn more about how to technically perform things here on the forum or to tweak settings, look through the links listed in Section 1. Section 2 is the list of links to hundreds of threads within the 60-66 message board. Section 3 is a list of links to other sites with technical information. Be sure to explore each section to get a feel for it.

This next link is where to get started about learning how to look for parts for our trucks, new old stock, used or reproduction... as well as complete running trucks or parts trucks :

Parts Sources

Good luck and welcome to the forum.

Following along as I too have been searching for that knob for the Thrift Air control. Some of the vendors sell a replacement control and cable, but not the knob.

Re: 1964 C10 Custom - Heater Pull Knob

How about using a windshield wiper knob without the washer, that is what is on mine. The thrift switch shaft has a flat notch ground into it. I don't have a pic, sorry.

Re: 1964 C10 Custom - Heater Pull Knob

I'm wondering if a radio knob of the same style could be modified, since radio's typically have a D shaped shaft. It would just need a set screw to grab the groove in the shaft for when it is pulled.

Thanks LostMy65, I've read through that thread and many others but it appears nobody has ever made an actual replacement. Same applies to the cigarette lighter, they make the entire assembly but nobody offers just the lighter/knob piece.

Considering the Thrift Air heaters were standard equipment and the Deluxe was the factory option, its surprising there are more replacement parts for the latter.

Here is another thread that talks about the difference between Thrift and Deluxe. No knob info but still interesting.
