new build 65 c10 lwb 5.3/4l60 swap help needed

whats up guys im building a 1965 c10 that originally came with a 250 c.i and a 3 speed manual transmission and im in need of some help. i bought the trans dapt 4595 engine motor mount kit from jegs but it looks like i need the rubber mounts that bolt on the frame itself. i looked online and everyone says use the stock ones but i dont think the 250 engine mounts will work. anyone know which ones to use with the kit? also can i use fbody long tube headers? its a budget build and i dont want to get doug thorleys since ive had nothing but bad luck with them in the past builds ive done. also since im doing a 4l60e swap (i have the crossmember, shifter and cable from a donor 65) will i have to shorten the stock driveshaft? or can i change out the yoke?? thanks in advance guys ill post pics up shortly

Welcome to the forum, They "will" work, however on mine, I chose to get the POL motor mount perches and trim the top of the frame rail. You can also use 73-87 clam shell mounts but I believe they need more trimming and fab.

On mine I used the motor plates and regular small block mounts.

Hope this helps!!

The TBSS exhaust manifolds are actually the best fit for budget minded folks. The long tube, 1 5/8 for a 5.3 will be close to $600.

You will also need a new trans mount too.

I suggest this one...

And this is what I used for the motor perches/mounts.

Well I finally got the engine and transmission out today and mocked up the engine but ran into another problem. Darn motor mount plates set the engine too far back and the engine hits the cab. Now I gotta find some that will fit with the stock 250 c.i mounts it has.

The LS plates come in a lot of offsets to fit a bunch of swaps. Have yo tried swapping sides with the plates? They will go on either side.

Nah I didn't these only set the engine 1 inch back from stock sbc location. I returned them I bought ebay ones that have holes for I inch forward or 1 inch back. Cheaper too. Not I gotta find new motor mounts since one of the i6 mounts was bad

Did you look at the link that PGSigns posted? That's the LSX Swap section of this forum. Most of your answers are already there in the FAQ area.

I used the POL motor perches instead of stock ones. IMO these raise the motor about 3/4" and with your slider plates, should get you what you need.

This is what I used and I can put my hand behind the valve cover fairly easy.

Good luck!!!

Re: new build 65 c10 lwb 5.3/4l60 swap help needed

I did a 5.3 4l60e swap in mine. I used the jegs adapter plates with stock sbc motor mounts. The adaper plate on the passenger side got in the way of the ac compressor if you plan on leaving in it low position. What I had to do was flip that plate over and drill two new holes in it so it didn't hit the compressor. Also I used the trailblazer ss pacesetter long tube headers $363 shipped. They worked pretty well. On the drivers side it barely touched the frame rail down near the 02 sensor so I trimmed the frame about 1/8 inch and about 3inches long.
