no more hand brake.....QUESTION!!
Did the swap, but where the bolt goes in the CAB side interferes with my newly installed (or atleast soon to be) ac vent ball housing and doesnt sit flush with the bolt head there....how did the 69-72 mount and ac vent holes?? Anyone???

Re: no more hand brake.....QUESTION!!
End of parking brake bracket and bottom of AC housing share the same hole. I imagine from memory that the bracket is on top (against the dash) so as not to crush the plastic housing.

Re: no more hand brake.....QUESTION!!
Yes, your memory is correct, but i would have to differ from the obvious and ditch the one countersunk philips head screws and use a bolt that would go through both of them? Im so confused why all the diagrams dont show this interaction....unless i mounted it wrong (used my knowledge of removing from junkyard donor)

Re: no more hand brake.....QUESTION!!
I went out to take a look. I was wrong. This is the wrong style bolt in the picture (likely should be a black oxide Philips with a washer).
But, as you can see, there's a notch missing from the AC housing. The housing is held to the dash by two screws, and the brake by that one bolt. I'd thus wager that when they switched over to this parking brake design they had to change the plastic AC housing as well, unless the old hand-pull needed that hole as well.

Re: no more hand brake.....QUESTION!!
My AC vent has a half moon cut out at the bottom. This is where my foot brake dash mount hole is. Uses a large Phillips head fastener.
Dave posted a picture as I was writing.

Re: no more hand brake.....QUESTION!!
Cool. That's my original. I dropped my passenger one and it broke (wah!) so I had to order another and it doesn't have the cutout, but being for the passenger side I never noticed. But now we know driver's side on the foot brake trucks are different.
Too bad there wasn't a wiki for all this obscure knowledge.
