Depend on what part of the U.S. some area they are harder to find then others and a BBW was a option until 1968.

Re: Are big window cabs rare compared to small window cabs???
I dunno about hard to find... some folks prefer them over the small window... and they made fewer big back windows... but it only matters really to people who want that option.

Depends on what part of the country you're in.

Re: Are big window cabs rare compared to small window cabs???
In a sense they are rare and hard to find, because they weren’t very popular when new so “relatively” few were produced. But rare doesn’t always equal desirable years later. It’s like the long bed step side trucks. Although there is a growing group of enthusiasts that are passionate about these trucks, for decades they were the least desirable model produced. To those that prefer them, the BBW trucks are more desirable now than when they were new.
Some owners prefer the style, others the visibility, and I imagine a few want one just to show off their welding skills.

Re: Are big window cabs rare compared to small window cabs???
Less common, but certainly not what I'd call rare. They are considered more desirable by pretty much everyone though, and do generally bring a slight premium over a comparable small window truck (IME). It was just an option, like a 283 V8 or Powerglide auto trans would be. For instance, my '65 one ton was ordered with a BBW by Coca-Cola for some reason (otherwise a pretty basic fleet truck).

Re: Are big window cabs rare compared to small window cabs???
Trucks with big windows were special order only. It was called "Panoramic View" if I recall correctly and it was listed on the order form. There for, by default, small window trucks were more common because this was Chevys "default". You didn't check the box on the order form, you don't get it.
I like small window trucks. Less people can see me pick my nose. |

Re: Are big window cabs rare compared to small window cabs???
I have always loved my small window truck. In the old days it would mask drinking a beer on the way home from work. Those were wild an wooly times. No seat belts, a three speed on the floor, manual steering and a beer between your legs on the drive home.

I prefer the small window. Seems to be more old school to me when I see them. Just my opinion.

Re: Are big window cabs rare compared to small window cabs???
Me I like them both but I'll take a big window. Mine is a big window an was the very first big window 60-66 I saw in person. An I ended up buying it a few months after I saw it.

Mine is BBW and I am happy with it but would have either.
Also think SBW suits stepsides better. Just my opinion.

I have a BBW on my '65, but prefer the look of the small window.... Has more of a classic look to it.

Got mine as a small window....but I heard size mattered, so I did some exercises and now I am a big back window man.
