I think every person building a Porterbuilt truck has run into a problem or two, given the different variables in the process, (different motors, trans, brakes, wheels). This particular incident revolves around a back-order at the machine shop we use. It is being addressed and steps are being taken to help prevent it from occurring again. Not all of the challenges we face are cut and dry, or have easy solutions.

We are doing all we can to put out the highest quality parts. We always appreciate feedback, good or bad. We are here for the long haul and want to set a new industry standard for quality and customer service. It isn't an easy task, but that's our goal!

I had a chance to visit Nate's shop in early June and was totally impressed! Nate went out of his way to show me his entire production process and spent all the time I needed answering questions about his product. I've never been so thoroughly impressed by the quality of product he is producing and the actual customer service he strives to provide to everyone!

I'm anxiously waiting for the 'Big Brown Truck" to show up at my door!!

Nate, I think most of us understand what it can take to produce the quality that you guys send out. Part of the issue I think, is places like Summit & Jegs and a list of others are able to get parts out and to your door in a few days so the expectations are skewed lol... BUT, they're not building "custom suspension/art" .

I've been to Nate's shop a handle full of times (dealing with the AZ heat has it's perks), you won't find better individual customer service. My first DM I ordered 5 years ago and had it in a week , then the following year I ordered the rear DM and it took, well, much longer , but it's what I wanted and as everyone else has stated, well worth the wait!

Hey fellow members... Need some more insight!

I have an Extreme with an LS swap. I just got the engine in and I am looking to get the steering linkage done. Does anyone have any pics of how they did it with an LS? Im confident that its going to be done with a 3 joint setup.

FYI! My pan(not F-body LS1) does fit. I did shim the rack out with 2 washers, with no interference with the notch. It is tight, could maybe use 1 more washer. Here are the pics

One thing to be aware of, when you shim out the rack like you did, you are opening yourself up to some possible bumpsteer concerns. Granted, it might not be enough to where it is noticeable, but something to keep an eye out for.

The location of the rack is critical in keeping the suspension and steering geometry in check with its design.

Russ is running the Holley pan.. They just have 2 different part numbers.

My personal experience is with the 98-2002 F body pan. I mocked the kit up with that specific pan, and I know it fits with personal experience. So that's the one we currently recommend to all our customers.

I just went back & saw where Russ still had to modify his.. So I'll go the F-body route.

Mine is the 302-2.....I had to modify the windage try, the f body windage tray is shorter than the truck windage tray. And I did not have a f body windage tray. Easy fix.

Any thoughts to making an adjustable motor mount (FWD-AFT, +/- 1") to allow for fine tuning the motr transmission setup?
