cleaning gas tank ?
I have my gas tank out and drained ,I let it sit outside to evaporate but still stinks.I want to bring it the garage and clean it but is a small garage and I don,t want to smell like gas in here which isn,t good for me.Was wondering what I could rinse out the tank with, soapy water or any other ideas, could be sparks when sanding it down so could be another issue with the gas fumes.

Re: cleaning gas tank ?
Soap n water, let it air out... then flood it with argon before you cut or weld on it.

Re: cleaning gas tank ?
On my 49 (use to have) It had so much rust I filled it with vinegar and that helped a lot, then tide detergent and let it soak filled. After that it had very little fuel smell. Course it took forever rinsing the soap out, maybe that helped?Good luck, be careful!

ACETONE add one quart slosh around and empty tank. Let sit for a day and all will be evaporated. MUST BE VERY CAREFUL WITH ACETONE
