What pump to use in a 87 factory tank?
I am helping a buddy with his build on a 1982 chevy that he will be putting a 2003 5.3 and 4l60e. He wants to use a 87 factory tank and sending unit but replace the pump with a high pressure in tank pump. What pump would be the best to use?
Thanks for the help!

Re: What pump to use in a 87 factory tank?
Hello. If i remember correctly, 1987 c10 square bodies have a TBI fuel injection. If that's the case the ac delco ep381 pump should be easily swapped for the TBI fuel pump. Good luck.

If the tank already has a intank pump just buy a replacement pump for the motor the truck came out of and install it.

Re: What pump to use in a 87 factory tank?
I just went to the parts store and ordered a in tank pump for a 2003 Camaro with a V-8
Works great. maybe it was the same as the EP381, did not save the box! It fit the 87 small tank 16ga. and the sender was for the 87 also and now I have a working gas gauge!

Re: What pump to use in a 87 factory tank?
Thanks for the help guys. We just put a walbro 255 on the 87 sending unit. I just had to solder the wires because it had a different plug. Other than that it fit great. We also put a new 87 tank in his truck to have the baffles. Total I think he spent around $240 for new tank, sending unit and pump.
