I don't think it will, but cannot say for sure. I do know that if that lower portion of the b pillar is trimmed, the gap is virtually eliminated. This area of the cab has a compound curve, making it extremely difficult to design, and impossible to match without the use of making a mold and pressing these brackets (waaaay to expensive to produce as a result)

I sold this prototype set to a local member, he will be installing these in his cab, and will have better pictures to post when he does. I am hoping this will be done shortly.

Ok, Forum member Torchlight purchased the prototype set, and has his shop install them in his truck. As mentioned earlier, he had the lower tab on the cab cut straight, resulting in the brackets sitting perfectly flush to the b-pillar. Here is the pic of the drivers side installed. Please ignore the lower floor bracket, as it is temporarily mounted to the front since the speaker opening is not cut...blocking access to the backside of the bracket when installed.

Hi Jeff, thanks for keeping me in mind, can't wait to get the brackets. Like I mentioned I am going to be using the belt retractors from a '96 GM pickup, might have to cope some of the bottom mount space out for them to work.
I'll be sure to share descriptions and pics how that happens - looking forward to receiving the brackets.

I was lucky enough to get my hands on a set of brackets for my 53 3100. These things fit wonderfully and are nicely built. I didn't install them personally, but the guys at the shop were thrilled with the parts - thick steel and easy to work with. They really are a custom fit for these cabs. I didn't want to cut holes in my doors or install kick panels for speakers, so these brackets are exactly what I was needing. Highly recommend these if anyone else is in the same situation. Hi Jeff, the speaker brackets just arrived. I am impressed, the fit up is perfect, I will trim a tab on the lower column and it looks like the seatbelt retractor will work as I planned - thank you !

A question - does anyone think a body panel assembly adhesive would hold these in place, she'll be a 'driver' not a 'grover'.... ?

I really need to find a cab to mock them up on, same for 60-66. There is a house near me, they have a 55-59 cab in their driveway...was going to stop by and se what the deal was. I have tomorrow off...just might do that, you never know what they will say.

Hi Jeff, Here is a pic of the pass side speaker bracket in my '51 - I modified the corner brackets a bit - because of clearance issues I switched the sides - r to L etc. I trimmed for the jamb and latches and for the curve at the cab rear. I covered the backs with "rattle trap" sound deadener and tucked them in as far as I could and welded them in place. GM seam sealer around the edges. This leaves plenty of room for the 60/40 GM seat and the belts.

I have another idea that may work for someone who isn't so good at metal fab. I had a piece of vinyl across the bottom of my cab, all the way from each door jamb across the back. This is a very bad picture of it being it looks all wrinkly but it's when I was tearing the truck apart so it's screwed up.



But it ran all the way wrapping around each side perfectly. A piece of metal could be made to hold the speaker that would be screwed to the structure back behind that vinyl and then the speaker grill on the vinyl with trapping the vinyl between the grill and the speaker. It could suck in a little bit stretching the vinyl and I think it would look pretty good.
