long bed one-piece drive shaft
who has done the swap and is it ok for a daily driver? Just noticed my 2 piece original mount at the joint is worn and allowing it to sag a bit and wondering if I should just change it or go ahead and do a new driveshaft.
this is on a 77 2wd by the way. No big mods just used as a pickup |

Re: long bed one-piece drive shaft
I always prefer a one piece.
If you have a shaft made your supplier can tell you what diameter and material would be best, based on your criteria. Drive shaft critical speed - the point at which it bends and starts to swing like a jump rope - is a function of material, length and shaft rpm. Shaft rpm is a function of rear axle ratio, tire diameter and vehicle top speed. K

Re: long bed one-piece drive shaft
I had 1 made when i did my 4spd swap. With my old one turned in for a core it was 100 bucks.

Re: long bed one-piece drive shaft
Too bad you don't live closer. I have your set up with a new carrier sitting on the floor. I went from a 4spd to an auto and used the shaft out of the donor. I had to change yolks and get a hybrid rear u joint but no slop or shimmy so far.
