Wheel offset question
I am about ready to start looking for wheels for my 71 longhorn and had a question on wheel offset. With all the gm factory wheels and after market wheels out there what is the best offset for a standard longhorn 3/4 truck. what is factory. Some of the newer gm take offs seem to be quite a bit different and I don't want the wheels to sit to far inside the wheel well. what should I look for in inches or mm . I was figuring on a 16" x 7 or 8" rims
thanks for any input Solver

Lots of threads on this. Look for backspace or backspacing. There was a good link to wheel vintiques and les schwab for info. Stock backspace is 4-1/2". Late model take offs won't fit.

I've seen a couple of our trucks with the late model (2002/3) 8-lug wheels on them. They look kind of goofy because they sit too far inboard on our trucks. Same for the 1/2 ton trucks... wheels are too far inboard.
