Help identifying air filter picture
I'm hoping someone can help identify what type of filter is currently in on my 1982 K20. The air filter housing seems like there should have been a standard paper filter, but as you can see in the pic, that is not what is in there. Also, whatever the filter is, I can't remove it, at least not by hand.
Thanks in advance! |

Re: Help identifying air filter picture
you do need a paper filter around that. I believe that is a charcoal type filter. I took the one out of me air cleaner it was glued in with something.

Yes, that belongs there and you need the paper filter.

Re: Help identifying air filter picture
So a paper filter will fit around the outside of the charcoal filter?
Anyone know the purpose of a charcoal filter? |

I'm guessing you need the fram CA3549 for that housing.
See here for the low down on the charchol inner filter; http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...1&postcount=11 Alex. |

Re: Help identifying air filter picture
Thanks so much for the info Alex. I had searched the forum for filter housing info, with no luck, but hadn't searched for "charcoal" since learning what it was.
Seems like I can just remove it from the housing, since emissions are not a concern and it's unlikely the charcoal has any life left to it anyway. But after wrestling with it, it's probably easier if I just leave it on. Thanks! |

Re: Help identifying air filter picture
CA326 is the 3" tall filter.
CA3549 is the ~5" tall filter (same ID and OD), which from the looks of how high that charcol insert appears to be would take the tall filter. Alex. |
