What EFI wiring harness are you using? Where does it receive power from? Interior fuse block or directly from the battery?

Tested the pumps amperage and I got a 8.40-8.65 reading....any thoughts?

The ~8.5 amps is reasonable for your fuel pump. There's nothing to worry about there. I still think your problem was just a bad connector at the sending unit bulkhead. Just solder the connections as discussed earlier and you should be good to go.
