I've got a pair on my truck I'd consider getting rid of if you'd want them.

Re: Who's running West Coast style mirrors? Pics please

My west coast mirrors look like they have been on my 66 a long time. Does anyone know if this was a style available in 66? I don't like the way they are mounted because you can't open the vent windows all the way. I am thinking of replacing them with west coast mirrors that have only two mounting points.

Mine are identical to yours, Metalaroundstone. And in similar condition.

I've always wondered if these are original equipment or not.

Thanks for posting that info! I've seen that DB logo on several mirrors and always wondered what it stood for.

Those look pretty similar to the mirrors on Dad's 66. They came from JC Whitney about 20 some years ago and were used to replace a similar looking (but rusty) set that someone else had already put on the truck.

Dad picked up a 65 parts truck a while back with a set of the OE white West Coast Jr's like others have posted here. We plan to re-paint them and eventually swap them onto his 66. That's going to be a bit of a project though since I'll have to weld up the holes from those aftermarket mirrors and re-paint the doors.

Wow, how cool is this. I was interested in the really cool shorty mirrors on my 63 GMC. Was looking here for information and here they are above.
Here's a pic of them on my 63. The mirror head will clean up nice, not sure about how good the bars will.

Now I feel better about the giant mirrors on my panel truck. Passenger side has the shaft of a "regular" mirror. I tried taking the bolts out but they just spun. Guess I need to tear down the door and see what's going on on the backside.

I have the small mirrors but I’m thinking of going with the tall ones. Didn’t know they were called West Coast mirrors.

Where a good place to pick these up now?

I'd like to know as well. I usually just peruse E-Bay for old parts but would love to find an after market supplier for new items available.

I cannot find these. Ordered some from Raneys Chrome back in September and they still can’t tell me if they will ever ship.

Man I never thought these old big mirrors would ever be desirable? I cannot tell you how many I’ve thrown away over the years. That used to be the first thing we ripped off and trashed when we drug a new project truck in.

Here’s a truck I’m picking up tomorrow that’s mostly unmolested. It belonged to a friend of mine that’s had it for over 40 years. It’s still got both original West Coast Jr. on it. I might consider getting rid of them as I’m not a fan.

I presume west coast mirrors were necessary just to be able to see all of the trailer that was so far behind the cab. Amazingly, a lot of old tractor-trailers in the 50s still only had tiny mirrors like the stock ones on a Chevy c10, maybe 6" round. That must've made life interesting!
Yes interesting is a good way to put it, I worked on a farm when I was young, they had a 46 or so chevy 1 1/2 or maybe 2 ton truck with those little round mirrors on the end of a long arm. Backing up was a problem because you needed just the right RPM so the mirror wouldn’t vibrate. The people my dads age never used mirrors to back up with they would open up the door and look back. Probably backed into a lot of things too.

I like the look of the west coast mirrors particularly the juniors but as much time as I've spent on fixing my doors I'm not about to drill any holes for them.

This blind spot mirror really helps!

Had to relocate these - much better.

West Coast Jrs on my 66 C10 Short Step. They appear to be original equipment. Anybody know why there are three screws forward of the lower mirror mounts on the driver's side? I have noticed them on other posted truck pictures. Maybe the truck originally came with the little round mirror and the Jrs were installed by the dealer or someone else early in its life.

Those are for the stock side mirror mount.

Yep those are for the standard mirrors. My doors have holes for the standard mirrors AND the West Coast mirrors! Lots of holes in my doors! (And I obviously need to fix my door check retainer…)
