64 chevy short box fleet side...

Hey folks, I'm a newbie here and just wanted to ask a quick question and I will post pics tomorrow...I just picked up my dream truck 1964 Chevy short box fleet side. I have found some very valuable info here, thanks! my question is the truck is supposed to be original but does not have coil springs it has leaf springs with 6 lug axles...it does not appear to be the original rear...did any of these trucks come with leaf springs? Thanks again

Jeff

Welcome to the forum!

Is it a 4x4 or 2wd?

GMC's came with leaf springs and some Chevy's did but I am not sure if the short beds did or not.

Welcome to the forum

As mentioned above, most GMC's came with leaf springs, but it was an option on the Chevy's as well. All of the '70 and earlier 2wd 1/2 tons came with 6 lug wheels.

Re: 64 chevy short box fleet side...

Thank you!

Its 2 wheel drive, 283 with 3 in the tree. the frame is in nearly perfect condition. the body has a fair amout of rust, I'm working on the cab corners and drivers side Rocker panels now...it's just a little odd that the frame is in such good condition compared to the body....Thanks again

Re: 64 chevy short box fleet side...

Pictures would help. Maybe the frame is not a 1964 frame.
