55 - 59 stock frame interchange.

Are there any major differences between 55-59 frames? I am not to concerned about originality but do not want to have any surprises once I find a frame and drag it home.
My starting point is a 59 cab which leads me to another question. Is there a interchange list anywhere. I have most of the nose minus the hood. Is the hood 59 specific? Also would a 55-57 nose bolt on this cab?
I apologize about being all over the map with the questions but need to figure this all out before I start parts shopping .

Thanks
Mike

Re: 55 - 59 stock frame interchange.

I went to the top search and found a bunch of various threads.

Marked the 67-72 box and pasted in 55 - 59 stock frame interchange

Plenty of ideas, there.

58-59 frames are about 2in longer in the front, the hoods are specific for them too!

Highsider neat panel truck. I redid my search using your wording . Some great reading but did not find what I wanted .
ChuckDriver Thanks. So just to be clear on my end I can build a 59 on a 55 frame by adding a few inches out front or use a 55 nose?

Re: 55 - 59 stock frame interchange.

You will need to deal with the hood hinge differences too, not difficult just attention to detail. The extra frame length is to move the bumper out because the fenders and grille are longer on the 58-59. Minor differences in the radiator brace, it mounts to the frame the same, but louvers are different. There have been a few build threads with 55 clips on 59 frames, don't recall any going the other way. 59 hood is specific in nose trim holes, wider and longer than the 58 trim, easy fix. Fender mounts to cab are the same. Inner fenders are specific to 55-57 and 58-59 because of how the fenders and grill mount.

Re: 55 - 59 stock frame interchange.

My 56 has a 59 frame under it, I cut the front frame horns down and moved the front bumper in. I still might move it in some more purely for aesthetics when I get ready to paint. I will have to modify the side bumper braces to shorten them after I move the bumper in.
