Re: 64 1 ton CL
I have been surprised by the utter lack of 1-tons on this site. I have two and I enjoy driving the duel wheels.

Re: 64 1 ton CL
Here is my 64' Chevy...without PS it is really an arm builder. I found a flatbed for it that I am getting ready to paint and re-wood.

Re: 64 1 ton CL
That would be a great truck to make a custom dually bed for.

Re: 64 1 ton CL
You can't tell from the picture but someone, it looks like many years ago doing a very good job of it, spliced in 2 extra feet onto the chassis. That is why I found that yellow 12' flatbed, came off a 59' Chevy 2-ton, to install on it.
What sort of custom cab are you suggesting? My interest in this truck has waned a little because it is non-power steering, has an I6 230 motor, and is a little too long for what I want...plus I have this 66' GMC with a big block 351E V6, power steering, power brake assist, from the factory that I would like to build out and make a driver that I will like a little better I think. I have a 65' GMC 1/2 ton that I want to switch out the cab with...it has some rust too but not anything like the 66'. The 66' has this nice wood bed I repaired already so it will be a better driver for me, you need to be Arnold Swartzennegger to steer the 64'. I might try to trade the out the 64' for something more fun. |

Re: 64 1 ton CL
yes, I have always thought that would look real nice and it doesn't look like it would be that hard to do especially if you had a long step bed but since there is an extra foot of frame on the C30's, there is some major work at least for me to make it fit...

Re: 64 1 ton CL
That 64 looks like a good deal to me! I actually have a 61 and 64, both 1 ton duallys. I was coming on here to do some research and the first 2 things I see is a post about a 61 1 ton on CL and then this post about the 64 on CL. Both of mine are the short wheelbase. The 61 has has a 235/granny 4 with a rural Firetruck pumper bed on it and the 64 is a 327/granny with a flatbed with removable metal grain bed sides. They both need work but doesn't almost everything?
