t56 help

I finally got my hands on a t56 . Does any one have any advice for me? I know that captain fab makes a hydraulic clutch conversion for the trucks. Hope it will work well in front of 4.56 gears.

I'm not sure what info you're looking for... but if you're planning to run a bench seat, there are "front shift conversion" kits available.

I think 4.56's might be a tad high, unless you don't drive on the highway often. I have 3.73's behind my GTO t56 in my Volvo wagon. It does around 90mph at 2,500rpms.

I would run a Wilwood 3/4 MC ($50 from Speedway). Run braided lines, and put a new slave in it before you install. Sucks pulling a trans just because you didn't want to spend ~$100 on a new slave.

Also the reverse lockout solenoids are junk, and can really cause problems. I always remove them and plug the hole.

Thanks guys. I don't plan on driving a high rate of speed on th high way 65-70 max I just don't want to change my axial out,you guys are probably going to think I am crazy but I want to stick it in my old 3/4 ton. I have no money in the trans I got it from my buddy that pulled it out of his wrecked camaro. So other than the trans, power brakes /steering and disk brakes the truck will be stock.

Well thought that you guys would find this interesting it is a adapter that allows you to use the stock bell housing. Also discovered that the trans I have is for a Ls
Going to use my 292 6 cylinder in front of it.

The 4.56 gears will be perfect. 2000 rpm at 76 mph with 29" tall tires.

You'll need a front mount shift conversion to clear the seat. The LS and LT versions have different length input shafts, keep that in mind when looking at adapters if you stick with the original bellhousing.

That's awesome! think that I'm at 2000 right now going 35. As for the adapter McLeod says the nothing needs to happen to the input shaft on the Ls if you use the Lt you have to change over to the Ls input shaft.

I have been running this setup with 3.73 gears for several years. Works great, 1700 RPM at 70 mph. Very usable first gear.
