Centerline smoothie hub cap mounting help...
I'm getting ready to mount the hub caps on a set of centerline smoothies. I have the clips but need to know how to go about finding out where the clips should be so I can drill and tap the wheel. I'd rather not make my wheels look like pin cushions trying to find the right area.. Any help and picks will help. Thanks

Jayoldschool... Sorry I may not have made myself understood very easy. I have the clips, what I'm needing to know is the diameter of the clip drill holes or how to come about getting them in the right place the first time so I can drill the wheel. Thanks

Re: Centerline smoothie hub cap mounting help...
Jay is right, it kinda depends on the particular clips/caps you have. Just an idea- perhaps scribe some various sized circles on a piece of plywood, screw the clips to the wood, and see what size ring makes the caps snap on just right.
Then, of course, you'll also have to allow for wheel contour. Good luck. |

Thanks guys I'll work on it a little today or tomorrow when I get time. I have the clips for early style center caps.

Ok ... I really must be missing something.. I've got the clips, I've figured the mounting and drilling of the wheels but the cap just sits to far off the wheel. What is everyone doing or done to the cap to make it sit flush on the wheel without the gap.. Thanks

Re: Centerline smoothie hub cap mounting help...
lets see your caps. if they are the kind that sit into the wheel like rallies, they wont sit flush, but if they are dog dish type they should.
here is a set of dog dishes here is a set that WAS dog dish type and was converted to rally style

Ok I have 55 truck hub caps, might have to do some re-engineering if I want to use these then.

Re: Centerline smoothie hub cap mounting help...
Make a wood block that fits the center of the wheel with a center marked in it or you can use a plastic bottle. Scribe a line in the wheel 6.25" drill and tap 5 holes for 10/32 in between each lug hole. install the clips and bend them until the cap fits tight. If you want those hubcaps to fit flush you will need to cut the rim off the back and flip it over weld it back on.
