Re: Stewart-Warner Tach Wiring ?

The ring terminals appear to be partially obscuring the terminal labels in your photo.

I think the sending unit is labeled "METER -", "METER +", and "DIST.PRI.", correct? And the terminals on the back of the tach meter movement should be labeled "+" and "-".

If that's the case, the "METER -" on the sending unit gets wired to the "-" terminal on the tach. And similarly, the "METER +" on the sending unit gets wired to the "+" terminal on the tach.

That leaves the "DIST.PRI." terminal on the sending unit. I believe that gets connected to the negative side of the coil.

Just to be on the safe side, you might want to see if you can find an original instruction manual. Here's a listing on ebay for a re-printed copy that should cover your tach/sender model --> http://www.ebay.com/itm/DETAILED-ALL...-/130620239787

Strange ... I just double checked the link and I'm still seeing an active listing. Shows 6 available / 37 sold.

Re: Stewart-Warner Tach Wiring ?

Did you figure this out? I have the exact same setup and I'm trying to figure out how to wire it properly using an MSD dist.
