Gas Gauge

I have a 62 c-10 with the original fuel tank and sender, but after market gauge. The gauge is an equus gm 0- 90 ohm, when the tank is full the gauge only goes as far as one quarter. I was told I could put a resister in the line to correct this problem, but do not what resister to use. Can someone help me?

Your original sending unit is 0Ω (empty) to 30Ω (full). Unfortunately, there is no way you can simply add a fixed value resistor to the circuit and have the 0 - 90Ω gauge give you correct readings at all fuel levels.

I don't think there are any 0 - 90Ω sending units out there that will fit the stock fuel tanks in these trucks. There might be a universal sending unit that could be adapted. But the easiest fix will probably be to buy another gauge that is designed to work with the 0 - 30Ω sending unit.

changing the fuel sender might be a better solution. Adding a resister would only shift the reading up the scale
