Re: 72 Paint Code Help
553 is the Conventional two code for 524 orange and 521 white. The conventional two tone paint scheme is, white roof and A pillars and the rest of the body orange. So the colors are correct, but the scheme is wrong. The white stripe, between the moldings doesn't belong.
EDIT: I can't believe I missed this, But It is A Highlander!

Re: 72 Paint Code Help
Mines a 72. It's in pieces at the moment. I know I've seen it somewhere could be driving down the road or on cl. Can't remember. You got the link to it by chance?

Glad you posted this truck. It's a nice one. And very well optioned, including highlander trim. If the seat cover is original, it will have orange plaid inserts. Let us know how it turns out.

Re: 72 Paint Code Help
As stated the original paint scheme (per SPID) was a conventional two-tone of 524 Red Orange (Hugger Orange) with a 521 White roof ONLY!
The truck is painted to "appear" to be a 458 Deluxe Two-Tone which it wasn't originally. As I have posted countless times a "Deluxe Two-Tone" truck will have a 4XX paint code. Note the position of the base mirror, its too high on the side of the truck, a clear sign of some sort of repaint activity. Again as Bruceman pointed out the interior is a Highlander trim truck with the orange plaid.

Re: 72 Paint Code Help
That's a nice find! Being a Janesville truck the Custom Deluxe emblem should be centered below the Custom 10 fender badge as opposed to left justified (http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...19&postcount=1) - check the fender holes to confirm original to truck.

Re: 72 Paint Code Help
nice truck. A Highlander trim truck (only, not a pkg truck) so not subjected to being driven around with the PA1 caps.. Bonus! PO1s look a lot better to me, as do PO3s (my personal favorite) (PA1s are just not to my liking).
Good luck, hope it works out for you, a highlander plaid seat is perfect in that color combo. |
