68 stepside custom

New carbed crate 454. 4 Air bags. That's about all I know other than the pix. Lots of custom touches. Yes I know it's a later model bed. WIW?

Re: 68 stepside custom

$15g or so. There was a similar red one locally for sale for the longest time & a yellow one. They were redone but both had newer boxes & never sold at $12-15gs lol The newer box kills the price I find at least. Don't see many sell for high dollar. There's been nicer fleetsides in the $15-20g range than this one locally, so I'd say it's around there tops.

Ok maybe not that much. I'd go 15k, just because of the late model bed ruins it for me.

Yeah. I'd do 15g and id bust it down and repaint it with a 67 shortbed. But that's me. For you do what you're comfortable with. There's alot of time and effort in that, though ruined by the late model bed imho.

Re: 68 stepside custom

$15,000 might be too much. That's a NICE paint job. You will need a heck of a bed to start with, and an expensive paint job on said bed to get it to match. I would say $10,000, possibly up to $15,000 if you have a solid quote from a body shop to make a correct bed match, that meets your numbers.
That's probably a $25,000+ truck with a correct fleetside bed on it. Can you get a perfect fleetside bed painted to match for $10,000? Maybe the truck is worth a bit more with a fleetside bed. Maybe it is worth $15,000. I think I know why you are having problems getting people to give you a solid answer...
That newer bed really makes it tough to value.

Well I would want to know more about it, but if the transmission, exhaust, suspension, rear-end and all else were to my liking 15 would be OK maybe more depending on equipment. It would be hard to go more with the late model bed, regardless of taste it's worth what it's worth on the market. It appears to be well-done.

I do like the late model beds, but I would want the square fender flange modified to match a stock bed (rounded). It's fiberglass and it's not super hard to do; but I'd probably not want to bust that nice, nice, nice paint job.

Wish somebody made a set of black flares that would make the front and rear fenders match, maybe a compromise like semi-rounded front and rear that would hide a little red in the rear and fill in a little gap in the front.

The seats and console look great, but the seats appear a little fat. I hope you are not too tall and you are comfortable in them.

That's a cool looking Nova in the background, is that truck at a dealer?

Re: 68 stepside custom

It's a private seller. I looked at it today. These pix have got to be 10 yr old. It sits outside. It doesn't sparkle anymore, bubbling paint, chips. Bags are on schraders. 454/400 and it's a real old school look underhood. All body color no billet just a little chrome. It is a real short box frame. It has potential but it would take a fleetside bed and a full paint job to make it decent.

Much better deal right there than the red truck.

Re: 68 stepside custom

That's more like I was hoping the red truck was dub. To be honest my intention was to put a fleet bed on the red truck, update a few things and flip it.

Re: 68 stepside custom

Market seems dry right now on trucks over $15gs, especially finished ones out this way. Stuff the eastern guys would buy sight unseen doesn't sell fast here lol Here's a couple local ones, the $15g one has been on for awhile now. Not sure about the $25g ones history though.

This one has been for sale for a year now so not sure what's up with it.
