No longer a virgin
Well put the old girl to work today. Loaded it up with 7000 lbs of wet fire wood. The truck didn't fail me a bit. It didn't hardly squat down on the springs at all.
Now the hard part stacking it all in the wood shed. Any offers to help? LOL!

That is a sweet truck. What rear axle does it have?

1970 K25, 8' stepside bed 350/465/205 44 up front, 60 in the rear 4.10s rolling on 33" Dunlop MTs 1986 K5, 350/465/208 Dana 60/14 bolt from a cucv 36" Super Swampers TSL/SX 1983 K20 w/ CUCV axles, 350/700R4/208 sitting on 37" Goodyears 1986 M1031 6.2 diesel, TH400/NP205 locker in the rear and a LS in the front, all stock for now..... 1986 K30, 350/400/205 dana 60 and 14 bolt. I kept the drivetrain. Body/bad and chassis are gone. 1981 K30, 350/465/205 dana 60 and dually 14 bolt. Has a G80, and a flat bed. Going to replace the flat bed. 1985 K20, 350/400/208 10 bolt and SF 14 bolt. I wonder where I can find some 1 tons. Hmmmmm

I always like seeing that great truck, and great to hear it handles the work too. I have one question though, do you ever drag that storage box? It looks awful low to the ground to me. On the other hand, looks like some nice storage room in it, which is always nice.

A friend of mine has a truck like that with the tilt bed. No bed fence though.

It was brought to my attention that this old girl wasn't a virgin but just wearing a new dress. LOL Ok I broke in the new dress then :p
JIMs70GMC the rear axle is a 11,000 lbs cap. barn9 I havent bottomed out yet but there is always a chance. FRENCHBLUE72 Ok but you will have to move your wood shed to my back yard. LOL

Just Curious how you tell the weight cap. of the rear end. I have the HO72 in my 67 10,000 gvw. Would that be the same or is yours out of something else? Also does your tool box clear the spring mount or is it spaced out somehow? I want to get one for the 67 but it is gonna be awful short it seems in order to not interfere with the spring mount.

86SILVERADO, When I had the rear end rebuilt the bearing numbers were for a 11,000 lb axle.
As for the box, my wheel base is 157 inches. I installed a 3 foot box and it is mounted in front of the spring pearch. I could have went forward more but the step on the bed would have been in front of the door too much. As it is now I have to tilt the bed up 2 feet so the door will open.

Yes CG but remember in Snohomish Co. we have the highest electric rates in the state. The fire wood saves me $400 a month in power bills.

That's a nice load of wood. I know what you mean by saving on utilities, I wouldn't trade my wood heat for any other, cause nothing can compare to the warmth of it, well except for maybe the wife.
 Do you have the big choice gas thing where you are? We do here and in my opinion it's nothing but  save money my A$$ it's higher now than it's ever been. I like having my wood pile close to the gas meter where they can see it.

No gas available up here just prophane. And that is going for a $1.89 a gallon. The neighbor has that and their house always feels damp.
