O.T. V.W. Golf

I have an 85 golf with the 1.8 in it. It was running fine and now it wont run. Checked spark and nothing. so checked coil nothing. replaced coil and it works. now have good coil and still no spark. started checking wires old and coreded so i replaced everything. new cap,button and wires and coil. still wont get spark. Checked all my fuses and still nothing. now my started wont work by the key have to jump it out. any one have any answers?

My 89 had a PCM and relays that all were in the starting circuit. If you have a book on one look there. I had to go buy one to work on mine. It never failed to try to start though. Good luck, Jeff.

I have a 89 VW Cabriolet, with a 1.8,, check your ground and relays,,, Could also be the timing belt, check your distrubtor and of course firing order and rotor,, could also be the hall sender in the distrubtor you can also post this question on www.vwvortex.com if you dont have a Bentley manual, those are invaluable for repairing your VWs,, dont get the chiltons or haynes,, for imported rigs... learned that the hard way.. BTW,, is the fuel pump(s) engaging when you turn on the ignition?

yea fuel pump is working but no spark. I put in new dist but still nothing. I have checked all fuses but not all the relays. I can not find out whitch is what. help I am about ready to burn this car and I dont want that.
