Nice work on the roof rack. I have always loved the look of your burb!

Re: Burb Roof Rack-DIY

Thanks Bill, like that 64 of yours too. That roof rack came out better than I expected. I'm glad I documented the build and folks still use the thread. I actually sold the Burb a while back. Somebody offered me more than I could refuse, so to speak. I'm still looking for a short bed for my son I and to build. -Dave

Hi Coursey,
The Burb went to Louisiana. Nice guy named Louie bought it. He saw it at the Columbus Goodguys show ended up buying it. He drove it from our house at the time in Ohio back to Louisiana. I have since replaced the Burb with a 63' Riviera....but always on the lookout for a short bed.

Built one for my 66 I use to have. Just bought the brackets to do my 69. Hopefully something this.

Re: Burb Roof Rack-DIY

Do you recall what size the 7 slats that go front to back are? They look 1×3

Re: Burb Roof Rack-DIY

Wow, this thread lives on...it’s been a few years ago but I’m thinking they may have been 1x4’s. Which would actually make it about 3 1/2” wide, that seems right. Good luck with your project. -Dave

Re: Burb Roof Rack-DIY

Were the rails notched, the slats, or both? And was there anything in the gap where the slats and rails met?

Re: Burb Roof Rack-DIY

Sorry for the late reply, just saw the notification.
Only the rails were notched not the slats, helped keep the spacing equal. There was a gap between the bottom of the slats and the horizontal surface of the rails. I should have documented the build a little better in hindsight. Glad the people still find it useful. Good luck with your build. -Dave
