Cross-member question

In the process of building a 66 and wanting to bag it on a budget. I'd like to do it in steps as money is available. Eventually I'd like to run the full PB front and rear, however I'd also like to drive my truck while I build it.

After reading about the stage 2 and 3, I like how the new crossmember and trailing arms move the wheels back to center them in the wheelwell.

My question is this: Couldn't I purchase the CM now (so I can run my 3" exhaust through it) and just move it back approx. 2" when I bolt it in place to center the wheels? Then once ready, I add the bags, new trailing arms or 4-bar set up and move it back?

You can put the PB x-member in & relocate it later if necessary since it bolts in. You can also relocate the OE x-member & cut clearance holes for exhaust to do the same thing.

The difference in wheel base isn't quite 2"..... It's more like 1-1.25".

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.
It's like a highly skilled Morrocan sword fighter with a Damascus Steel Scimitar.....

Cubic inches is like Indiana Jones with a cheap pistol.

We made a small revision a while back that allows the crossmember to be moved for and aft quite easily.

It's now a 3 piece design that leaves the c-channel pieces that bolt into the frame in one location; then the center crossmember section can be unbolted and moved with ease.

If you move the crossmember, does that mean you will be making new spring mounts on the trailing arms? (ok, bag mounts)

Yes, the frame mount would need to be offset as well.
