Questions regarding fittings and starters.
Hey guys I own an 1980 C10 with a nv3500 and 350, im starting my 5.3 swap I already have the ls1 oil pan, pick up tube and dip stick. I would appreciate if you could answer a question or two. I plan on ordering a 87 r10 tank and pump assembly and using the walbro 255 pump, figure i'll get the passenger mount 16 gallon since that is what I have currently. My question regarding the fuel system is what fittings can I buy to put on the pump assembly, I plan on using the Push-on fittings from Russel up at the engine, but im not sure what fittings to use on the pump assembly, or is there even a better way to set up a fuel system on my truck? My second question would be what to do with the starter, my 5.3 came without one and i've noticed there are two designs (two long bolts, or 1 short 1 long bolt?) How can I tell which starter to use? Engine is out of a 02 yukon.
Fuel tank and Pump assembly 5/16" -6 an push on fitting 3/8" -6 an push on fitting

Either starter will work. The version with 2 long bolts is the newer "revised" version and is considered better, though. The pump hanger that you posted is OK, but I don't think you want that pump because it is designed for TBI. Instead, you want something like the Delco EP381 pump which will fit in an '87 hanger. As for fittings, the passenger side module has enough pipe to cut off the hose barb and then it can be re-flared for push on fittings like the ones at the rail. I've seen other methods, but that's the cleanest, IMHO. |
