65 Tranny mount question

I got nice replacement rubber/steel bellhousing tranny mounts......BUT, they did not include any hardware. And all of my original hardware is long gone.

Finding a bolt is no problem, however, is there a sleeve or steel bushing that was in between? and what kind of washer was on the bottom? square or a standard round? it looks like it was square.

If there was a sleeve, does anyone have size / length, or some picks so I can make one.

Thanks.

Re: 65 Tranny mount question

I went out and took a picture but I couldn't use a flash because my battery was low and then I could only take 1. You can kind of see a rectangular washer. I plan on putting an overdrive automatic in my truck and if you want the hardware you can have it but who knows when I will do the swap. I can go take another picture when my phone charges up a bit.

Re: 65 Tranny mount question

Thank you

I figured it was a square washer, I have some plate steel to make that.

Do you know if there is a sleeve inside? between the two bushings? kind of like the body mounts. I would have to make that too.

Ideally I'd like to just find a hardware kit, so far I haven't been able to find one.

Re: 65 Tranny mount question

YES there is a tube/sleeve inside the mount I don't have one out at this time (so i don't have the size) im sure someone on here does....as for the "washer" the only thing I have EVER seen on there is a LOCK tab/washer which KINDA worked one of mine was MIA. (as was the bolt and lower mount) I just used a large flat washer and there was enough threads above the EARS on the bell housing i was able to put nuts on the bolts to act as DOUBLE NUTS

If anyone out there knows the length / size / diameter of that sleeve you would save the day!

I don't know for sure but I might have that hardware from when I took it out of my blue truck. It was 15 years ago but I always save stuff like that. I will take a look when I go back to my shop space. If I do I can send them to you if you want them.

That would be amazing, but even just the measurements of the sleeve would be great.

I just had mine in my hands last night. I will go make some pics after work - unless someone else beats me to it. These are old original parts I have laying around in a box.

Re: 65 Tranny mount question

My tranny is toast now. Today when I was driving it, it dose not want to come out of 3rd gear unless I am rolling at a crawl. If I stop I have to start off in 3rd as it won't shift out, not to mention when it dose it grinds. On the bright note, it doesn't pop out gear when cruising down the freeway anymore.. I think it is time to put the 700r4 in that I have. Need my work truck.

Re: 65 Tranny mount question

700R4 was my original choice but I couldn't find a good one that wasn't super expensive, the little Saginaw was an after thought and the right price.
