Is there a difference in 2004 and 2005 lq9 engines?

I bought a lq9 and I was told it was out of a 2005 Escalade. It has a fan on the water pump. My 2005 Denali has electric fan setup. That makes me believe it is actually 2004 or older. The reason I ask is while buying parts i discovered there are different part numbers for head gasket kits for 2004 and 2005 and don't want to buy the wrong thing. If anyone knows of any differences I would love to know what they are.

My 02 lq9 had electric fans...not sure about the other years..I'm told there should be a casting date on the heads..or a wta sticker on the back drivers side head,, those numbers can be run by a gm tech to tell you all about the engine but I've not looked at mine.also told the only changes made were longer head bolts.

Not sure what you are looking at for head gasket differences between 04 and 05 for the LQ9. If you're sure it's a LQ9 there shouldn't be any differences in those years. Only thing that may be different is the head stud kit if it's a super early 2004. Bottom end on the lq9 was pretty much the same all the way through the years. Floating pins and beefier rods. What is your concern?

AFAIK even with the stud/vs bolt situation, the gasket is the same. The defacto replacement is the GM LS2 gasket. Its whats sold by GMPP, TSP, and every other high-performance abbreviation lol. Don't spend the money for an aftermarket gasket, as the stock gasket is already MLS.

As long as the heads and deck are stock, this gasket @ .51 is what you need.

I want to make sure i get the right gasket set. I looked up felpro and they list a hs26192pt2 as the set I need. One site said I needed hs26192pt. I am going with felpros info.

I use factory LS9 gaskets on all my builds.
