White Walls or Black walls......that is the question.
Getting close to pulling the trigger on rims and tires for Henry.
As much as I would like to splurge on some rims and caps from Wheel Smith, I think I am just going to rock some Cragar Delux's. Cheap and low key. Not plain, but clean appearing IMO. I wish I could find a picture of a complete truck with them mounted. I plan on leaving them stock flat black. Now tires. 235/75-15 Diamond Back Fury wide whites will cost $991 shipped to my door. Dayuum. I can buy some generic black walls from Discount tire for $352.00 to my door. I want the white walls, but $600 is $600......... Advice....comments....concerns? |

Re: White Walls or Black walls......that is the question.
I'm in the same boat. Is the 235/75/15 ok on a 8" wheel front and rear with a 4-5 inch static drop?
Parkwood used 215/60/15 front on 7" 3.5 BS and 235/60/15 rear 8" 4.0 BS The first shot isnt aired, sitting about where ours would with a sids system. 2nd is aired out with the bling. Thoughts? |

Coach--call Cody at Hurst Racing Tires 503-656-1572 I have run them before and will do so now on the Burb. I ran your numbers past him and he says " Thats a big tire"! lol my 16 5.5's are roughly 26" now and the 235/75/15's are 28 1/2 tall. I would love to stuff a bigger tire

Re: White Walls or Black walls......that is the question.
Maybe that is a bit big. Leevon's rim and tire in the original post is a 235/70-15.
Maybe a little smaller on the front is a good idea though.... |

Re: White Walls or Black walls......that is the question.
I vote for whitewalls but I know what you mean about the price. I purchased a new set of Coker 235-75-R15 wide whites at a car show last weekend. I've been running porta-walls that look pretty good but needed one tire and couldn't match the other three so sprung for a new set.
Check Summit tire prices. I just noticed that they are cheaper than Coker, with free shipping. Still over $800 though. |

All I know is looking at the pic with the blue painted Delux's makes me want to get some paint sprayed on mine. No tires on them yet so it would be the perfect time to do so!! I actually have the same bullet caps and bullet lugs.

Well.......I am leaning towards WW, at least right now. We will see what the budget says at buy time.
I am just going to get some rollers at the junkyard for now until I figure out backspacing. Now the big question....what size? |

Re: White Walls or Black walls......that is the question.
I am facing similar decisions though I am stuck for uing 16" wheels, minimum, because of rear caliper clearance. I also want to give the truck an early 60's retro look so I want white walls about 2" wide or so. Not much available for 16" wheels and the price made me stop looking. Have to comit soon. Need to make it a roller and don't want to do the tire thing twice.
Any suggestions for a tire source? |

Re: White Walls or Black walls......that is the question.
I am looking for some WW for my 66 c10. Looking at 235/75/15. Should I get all 4 the same or put different size on front. I plan on putting a 3/3 or 3/4 drop on it.

BlueJeep the website you posted have you ever did any business with them or know anyone that has. They seem to have decent prices.

to me, you cant go wrong with blackwalls
on TF trucks i dig white letter tires, while on AD trucks i like whitewall

Re: White Walls or Black walls......that is the question.
Ok, another opinion and we all know what THOSE resemble!
I generally don't like white walls on trucks, period. BUTi think they can look good on AD's, Suburbans and panels especially. On TF's I vote black walls without raised white letters.

Lately I am leaning more and more to a bigger wheel, but am torn between whitewall or blackwall.

Re: White Walls or Black walls......that is the question.
Taller stance black walls, lower or slammed white walls. White walls on 4WD look dorky.

Re: White Walls or Black walls......that is the question.
Here's a thought I use when thinking on colors for my truck, but it could apply just as well to making a tire decision:
Imagine your truck is finished with one of your two choices. It's immaculate and you love driving it. You're sitting at a stoplight and up rolls another truck just like yours and it has your other choice on it. Do you think, "Man, I wish I'd chosen those!" OR do you say, "Those look really good but I'm glad I chose what I did" You're building it for you, screw everyone else's opinion!

Re: White Walls or Black walls......that is the question.
I bought delux 69 wheels last week from jegs and went blackwall. the only white wall I would consider was a thin white stripe. its just my cruddy opinion, but I think whitewalls are seriously overused, like two tone paint jobs. just my opinion though.
