Conflicting suspension setups
I currently have a blank canvas of a 72 C/10 long bed and want to upgrade the suspension first to get the handling right before I go after adding power. Part of me really wants to buy a full on race chassis just because they are their (similar mindset to the guy who buys a Ferrari to commute to work). I realize this is not rational. So I have started to narrow down my ideas. I'll start by saying I just mainly want the truck to handle better on the back roads. I will most likely never take it too a track or probably even autocross event. I also don't want the truck to sit much lower than it already is (I'm thinking a 3/5 drop max). I also like the idea of coilovers upfront and airbags in the back because I will be hauling around my Harley in the bed and other miscellaneous heavy items. With that said, I don't want to buy the cheap stuff just because it's cheaper and am willing to pay more for a better product to a point. So right now I'm leaning towards the front end tubular control arm kit from POL that includes shocks, CA's, and coils. I also like RideTech's coilover kit from AZproperformance but it's almost double. Has anyone had anyexperiance with either kit? For the rear I was looking at the Porterbuilt Stage one kit with airbags which fits with my mentality of control ability of squat from a load, but then again I could just buy the full front and rear kit from Ridetech and just tighten the coils when I'm loaded, but again, the ridetech stuff is double in price. I plan on adding front and rear roll bars no matter what. So with the vast experiance on this website, am I just throwing away money on stuff that will look good when I'm parked at a show and will but is really overkill, is the cheaper stuff still good enough for my end goals? Or am I compleletly missing something that I could do that would be even better for similar money. Speaking of money, my budget is a max of $5,000 if I know it's worth the investment, but would like to keep it closer to $3,000 if I could.

Re: Conflicting suspension setups
You need to look at my truck and go for a ride. It does everything on the list of yours including being able to tote a Harley. I am local and work in Hampton so look me up. I have done it with a good bit simpler setup than you are thinking.

Re: Conflicting suspension setups
When you get back let me know. I'll be glad to help with the truck. Here is my basic setup. 73 to 87 swap in the front with drop spindles and disc brakes. Caster mod to the lower shafts that allowed 5 degrees of caster. Drop springs front and rear. Rear has 1 1/4 blocks with about 2 degrees of angle cut in them to correct the pinion angle. Urathane bushings in the truck arms and the track bar. Long Early classics track bar. Bell tech shocks all round.
