Need help with Sagninaw 3 speed shift linkage. pics inside

Hi gentlemen, I just purchased this rebuilt Saginaw 3 speed for my 1965 C10. I quickly noticed that the new tranny is longer than my original. Not a big deal I will have the driveshaft cut down.

My issue is that the shift linkage is different. I have of course the three on the tree linkage and want to keep that.

Any ideas on what I will need to make this work?

Thanks so much for your time!
Jerry

Most guys convert to a floor shifter when replacing the column shift trans from Muncie to Saginaw.

I'm not sure that the factory linkage and column will work with it without a great deal of work on the shift rods.

Maybe others will chime in on it.

The Saginaw was optioned in the 2nd gen trucks. Might be worth getting a set of rods off a 67-72 and they were specific for 6cyl vs 8cyl

Also...interesting that your Muncie has the short tail...I normally see the long tail version which is the same length as the Saginaw and Borg Warner trans.

Good point! So I could possibly use the three on the tree shift levers and rods off of a '67 and make this work?

Any ideas where to get those parts if so?

I'd try the 67-72 classifieds section. Should be a fairly easy find.

I think your original one is a truck 3 speed and the new one is a car 3 speed.

I have never seen a short tail shaft sag. Don't mean they didn't make one. any shifter arms with the trans?

I guess another option would be to put in a floor shifter and ditch the column shift. Anyone know what floor shifter I should use?

I think chevy used the Saginaw in 66. the Saginaw o/d in my 63 came from a 66 p.u. I'm pretty sure. That would be the linkage to find I'm thinkin. the Saginaw you have doesn't have mounting holes in the tail shaft for the really good floor linkage. the universal kits work but there not always real solid shifters.

summit lists a Master shift for a sag-3p. shifter plus the install kit is a $350. cheaper ones out there.
