Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds Part II
The weights can still hit w/20" wheels if attached to the edge of the rim depending on the spindle/a-arm combo. They just make contact farther inboard on the a-arm vs a smaller diameter wheel. My 18x8" Torq Thrusts would contact the a-arm as well as some 20x8.5" Coys on my old 74. I have 2" drop spindles on my 90 w/15x6.5" van ralleys up front & the weights don't hit.

I think with the right drop spindle it'll work. Western chassis spindles do not have that issue from what I've been told. You could also run tape weights instead of regular weights.

i think belltech's also push the hub out 1/2" to account for this.

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds Part II
I just installed bell tech 3" spindles and 2" springs. Had to cut bout 1/8" off the bottom of the control arm, for my rallys to not rub. Well worth it, in my opinion.

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds Part II
Did the front swap today. It'll have to wait till tomorrow to get a bath. It also needs a grill and head light bezels...only reason I went ahead with the swap was I had a buyer lined up for my old parts. Posted via Mobile Device |

Damn you suck! I'm jealous! Was it just the header panel with grille, lamps and wiring? Used your original hood and fenders?

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds Part II
looks good....but if your rear end is sitting on the shocks an you get shorter ones like you said its gonna bring it down some an the rear might just be lower than the front.....

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds Part II
Yea its already lower by 1.5" to the fender. So I'm sure I will need more front drop, or to get stock front leaf spring hhangars.

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds Part II
I bought Belltech drop shocks but they bottomed out on medium sized bumps so ended up buying shock mount extensions... No problems and rides great but wish I had done a little more research in that part...

First of all your Truck really looks great, I'm partial to your stock theme. On your question about shocks I had Duetsch brand on the rear of my truck with shock extenders but because I lowered the rear by a flip kit plus lowered rear springs the rear was lower than the front. The truck was almost level with just a hint of lower in the rear. Front was lowered 5in. So the Duetsch shocks were replaced with Gabriel air shocks so I can raise the rear a little for a rake. Good Luck with your truck. Bruce |
