Removing 1950 cab off frame ideas

I need to take my cab off my S10 frame about 4 or 5 more times. In a two car garage. Does anybody have any good ideas on how to do this with limited help. Pics or ideas would be cool

Check out a couple of the build threads on here, Seems people have been building a wood brace that attaches to an engine hoist.

Everybody has their own preference. When I did a S-10 frame 53 several years ago, I tried the wood brace but since I was going "rat-look" I didn't need to remove the doors, and with wing vents in the way I could never get it balanced right.
But, this worked perfect for me.... On the outer edges under the dash are two bolts on each side that are just an inch or so apart. I took those out, replaced temporarily with longer bolts to attach chain link which I attached ratchet straps to. On the back side, one ratchet strap to the 1.5" hole in the floor and a big washer under it.

The cherry picker setups work pretty well if you have one available and a reasonably smooth floor. A couple of the guys have fabricated some pretty slick attachments to go on the top of the cherry picker that are quite stable.

It's still a case of use what you have available and what works well in your case as long as it is safe for you and the truck.

Using an electric host mounted little cart that rolls on 4 wheels on a H-beam.
When lifting I place on each side a metal adjustable stud.







It is not as flexible as I wanted, but was a great help to mount the cab, bed and engine/transmission.

heres how i did mine by myself. just kept lifting it up little by little with blocks until I could roll the chassis out from under the cab.

I've used couple different methods, including chains or ratchet straps to the frame mounting bolt holes, but what I use now and I think the easiest method for me:
I use a 10' long 2x12" I had in the garage, ratchet strap that to the top arm of the cherry picker, extended all the way out, and then lift the cab through the door windows, though my doors are currenty off. I've seen others do that or similar. I hope it hasn't pulled my cab out of square, but I figure the 12" wide board has more surface area for the cab to put pressure on than a single strap, and the wood will give some before the metal does.
As for sitting it down, I have a series of pallets, screwed together, with furniture dollys on the bottom of the stack. I slide that between the legs of the cherry picker, and lower the cab onto it.
I used to work in a one-car garage, and I actually rolled my cab on its back, and back over, with only my set of hands. I've had to get creative a few times.
