Ls swap fuel lines help
I need fuel lines for my Ls swap, I have a return style intake and Boyd welding fuel tank. Was looking at earls super stock hose (rubber) 250 psi and 250-275 degrees external temp. Or some type of braided (summit jegs earls brand) I do not care about looks. Nervous about rubber hose because of under good temp and crossing over exhaust. Please help this is the last step before I fire it up. Thanks guys

Re: Ls swap fuel lines help
I used stock style nylon lines on my return setup, bought bulk line and fittings and made the lines to fit my setup. I was also concerned about heat with them close to the exhaust so I bought 6 ft of aluminum sleeve from ebay and incased the lines in this sleeve all the way from the fuel rail to the fuel filter on the frame rail.
Such as this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Metallic-Ins..._j1DSQ&vxp=mtr There are a bunch of different ones for cheap, just cruise ebay to find what will work for you. I bought the 3/4" non-velcro one and that worked nicely for me. |

Re: Ls swap fuel lines help
You used the stock style nylon? How did you connect it to fuel rail?

Re: Ls swap fuel lines help
You can get the Dorman quick connect ends at parts store, as well as fuel injection hose and fuel injection hose clamps. Use steel 3/8 line. Borrow the parts store double flare tool and install brass ends and screw brass barbs on. It's all available local but much cheaper ordered on line.... My steel like came from AutoZone. Brass, hose and fi clamps from Napa. And ordered the Dorman quick connects off Amazon cheap....

Re: Ls swap fuel lines help
I got the factory lines, could I cut and flare the ends and go from there?

Re: Ls swap fuel lines help
You sure can. And Napa carries inverted flare fittings and barbs, you can get two extra quick connects and run an in line filter

Re: Ls swap fuel lines help
I used a Hastings GF283 for the filter, it's 3/8 quick connect in and out, application is 94-96 Caprice/Impala SS.

Re: Ls swap fuel lines help
I went to autozone and got a fuel replacement line and then cut it about 4" long. I insert in the fuel filter and used FI hoses with traditional clamps for the fuel in and out and I used another hose between the fuel pump and the fuel filter. I have not had a single leak so far and it's under the chassis tucked away from debris, sparks or anything else.

Re: Ls swap fuel lines help
I definitely recommend going with fi clamps, cheap insurance, they are sold at Napa under the balkamp line 705-1225 I think, they may have to order them in but for sure they will be in small red and white boxes in the back...

Re: Ls swap fuel lines help
I used Russell ProClassic hose just like in this great article. Rated to 350psi so no worries down the road.

Re: Ls swap fuel lines help
I made mine out of hydraulic hose and fittings. Good up to 8,000 psi, and probably my last worry on the whole truck. If you're not worried about looks this is the direction you may want to go.

Re: Ls swap fuel lines help
What fuel filter are y'all using? I was gonna is a factory filter but it's not a flared fitting is like a oring flared fitting. Right now I have the stock line hooked up and run to the frame rail what direction should I go? I'd like to run as much hardline as I could.

Re: Ls swap fuel lines help
maybe slightly off topic. but all my stock fuel lines run down the right side of the truck while the factory ls fuel rail has fittings on the left side of the engine. can i simply turn the fuel rails around? I like the quick connect fittings and will likely go that route.
thanks in advance. -Izzy

Re: Ls swap fuel lines help
I'm not sure if the rail will slide back over the intake backwards because of the regulator mounted on it.
My lines run up the passenger side also, so we ran hardline up the firewall and converted to braided to meet the rail. With everything on it doesn't stick up at all, and has plenty of flex for engine movement.
