Question about lowering a C10
What will it do to my stearing and ride, if I use 3 in. drop springs on both the front and rear of my 1967 short wheel base C10? I want to go down the same in the front and rear,to keep a slite rake to the stance. I am not interested in drop spindles. Also would 2 in.all the way around be better, and if so why? Thanks in advance

Re: Question about lowering a C10
3" without a spindle is probably going to cause you some pretty bad alignment problems. That is true with any vehicle

Re: Question about lowering a C10
We have members here that are static dropped with 3" springs and dropped spindles. Some say it rides crappy, others think it's just fine. I'd say, some are honest with themselves, and some aren't or have no experience with what it should ride like.
Do you have access to anyone who has one of these trucks dropped with 3" springs? You may want to ride in one yourself and judge. |

Re: Question about lowering a C10
the reason for the drop spindles is to keep your wheel and tire thread centered and level to the ground..if ur just do the spring with out the spindles your going to have camber issues .even more with bigger wheels and tires.. and the lower u go in drop spring the more dangerous it is because there is no tension in the arms. simply the spring could fly out or your going to damage a lot of suspension parts.. people run 2in or even 3'in drop springs but stated above u will have ailment issues. thats y they make the a 2 1/2 drop spindle..

Re: Question about lowering a C10
why are you not interested in drop spindles ? do you love your front drums that much ?
3" spring drop is not a good option. 2" max any more and your a arms are way out of spec.

Re: Question about lowering a C10
I think spindles are the way to go, I think Beltech makes a 3" drop spindle, and with a 3" drop blocks in the back you would not even have to change springs. Than again I don't know anyone running a 3" drop spindles or blocks. Good luck and let us know what direction you take.

Re: Question about lowering a C10
In responce to 72MARIO. I am trying to keep the cost down where possable. what do you think of 2" drop springs all around? I know spindles and disc brake kits are better, but are they worth the extra cost? Would it be possable to order drop spindles and purchase the remaining parts locally at NAPA or Orileys? would this save anything? if so could someone list the needed parts? I am willing to spend what is necessary, but I do need to keep it down where I can.

Re: Question about lowering a C10
if budget is the case then I would suggest a 2inch drop spring max.... then when u have the extra funds go and buy a complete drop kit. theres alot of vendors that sell them and if ur still running drums in front it can be a little pricey because u need to convert to disk..anyways u could also convert the front crossmember and steering to a 73+ from a wrecking yard to save some money. never done one but iv read here there straight forward and my 71 has 73 steering... I think the only thing is different in the 67 frame is because it manually and u would have to make or buy a spacer manual to p/s. anyway there alot of information on here in the search icon.. good luck.

Re: Question about lowering a C10
Oleguy. You can cut one ring off the bottom of your front springs for a 2" drop and buy 2" lowering blocks for the rear for about the cheapest drop you can get. I'm guessing the rear blocks and ubolts run about $50 or so and you can use a sawzall or angle grinder to cut off the front springs and you don't even have to buy new shocks. Your ride will be near stock and alignment should be no problem.
You do have rear coil springs and not leafs right?
