Intake manifold for a LS1 ..
Hy all
i want to buy that intake manifold for my ls1 5.7 engine.. http://www.ebay.de/itm/351586935492?...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT The intake is offered for a 6.0 or 6.2 engine....are there any difference of the intake pattern ? I know the bore of the engine is different, but i couldnt find any informations of the design of the cathetral heads.. I guess they are all equal !! ?? at least i hope so :-) Thanks Achim |

Re: Intake manifold for a LS1 ..
Heh, the whole advertisement for that intake makes no sense.
LS1/LS6 uses cathedral port heads, as do the 6.0 engines. 6.2 used the rectangle port design, which was totally different. The intake is pictured with a 4-bolt throttle body flange, which makes me think it's for the later rectangle port usage. Either way, $200 for that means it's a poorly contstructed POS anyway. I belive I'd pass.

Re: Intake manifold for a LS1 ..
Wow stay FAR away from that. First, any aluminum intake thats only $200usd is garbage. Take a look at Wilson Manifolds for what a fab'd aluminum intake is supposed to look like.
That intake also says its setup for a 102mm intake. There is only ONE throttle body in existence that actually functions well and is 102mm, which is the Nick Williams 102, another extremely expensive part. If you want an intake in that style, take a look at the Holley Hi Ram (or mid-ram) or the Edelbrock pro-flo.

Re: Intake manifold for a LS1 ..
thanks for response...
I will ask for some more pics of the flanges... Just one more questions...do the ls1 heads with cathedral ports all have the same pattern ? or there any difference between the 5.7 and 6.0 ? generally u are right for 200 bucks it has to be to grap....but for me it should be ok, because i will transfer the manifold into a ITB setup...that means i close the 102mm opening at the front and put some adapters (openings) on the tops for the ITBīs. So anyway i have to cut apart and reweld more or less the whole manifold. what do u thinks ? Thx Achim |

Re: Intake manifold for a LS1 ..
Yes, all cathedral ports on the heads/intakes are the same, regardless of the cubic inch.
There has been a lot of talk about these Chinese intakes and they are complete junk and will flex even on a naturally aspirated engine and don't make the kind of power that even a stock TBSS (TrailBlazer SS) intake makes. The TBSS intake comes stock with a 90mm throttle body opening which is more than enough for even a mildly modified LS. You would be way better off if you spent just a little more money and got an Edelbrock Pro-Flo. |

Re: Intake manifold for a LS1 ..
Somebody on the LS Nation Facebook page showed that the intake above will actually implode under high RPM because it's so flimsy. Stay away from it! Buy name brand stuff like Wilson Manifolds, F.A.S.T., Edelbrock or Holley.
