my first 3/4 ton...
First off I would like to say, my FIRST 73-91 Burb was an '85 GMC c1500 sierra classic black/silver two tone with a 305/700r4/3.73 (HD towing RPO). That, I dont have pictures of.
Now my current 'Burb (and hopefully till the grave) is an '80 C20 Silverado trim 454/th400/14 Bolt FF/3.73?(possibly 4.10?) Factory exterior color was dark camel. Now its a light camel with chipping clearcoat. The front grill is not original but looks clean. The original engine has been swapped to a '91 Gen V 454 but converted to Edelbrock intake & carb. I have a toggle switch for the external low pressure electric pump mounted near the tank. It has front and rear A.C., electric rear tailgate window, a quarts (clock?) gauge but NO 3RD ROW option. Thats a definite first for me.

My 1989 GMC V2500 Suburban. 6.2 diesel. It had a "vegetable oil" kit on it, what a mess! I am removing and selling the kit. 4" block lift, new injector pump. Mediocre quality newer paint job. Rear A/C, 3rd row seat. I have big plans for it all. Best of all, CA smog exempt!!

Good to see guys are still working on the Burbs, I never get tired of seeing what other people have built.

My '88 Burb was also a weird one with rear AC but no 3rd seat option. I added the 3rd seat though, Burbs are meant to haul people!

Re: The first ever 73-91 Burb post your ride thread!
My 79 Burb had been beat before I ever saw it. It lasted two years, then the motor took a dump, and the rear is a screaming for attention. I took the 2 grand I had saved up, and bought this 78 instead.
Paint is darn near perfect. 6 inch lift, $1200 new tires and wheels, and runs like a dream. I do need to get the wipers to work, and the heater core replaced, but I dot my monies worth.

Re: The first ever 73-91 Burb post your ride thread!
Got mine about 9 months ago. I suspect it was parked for a little while because it had a bad distributor. Needed new seatbelts, new drivers seat, some work on the interior. Added keyless entry, remote start, some fog lights behind the grill, updated to electronic speedometer.
Would like to repair the little bit of rust it has, clean up the few bumps and scrapes and paint it. As it sits, its pretty ugly, but it was cheap and it's reliable.

Re: The first ever 73-91 Burb post your ride thread!
My 1976 GMC Suburban Sierra Classic 1500 2 wheel drive, 454ci, th400. Has a 14 bolt rear end, tow package, front and rear air conditioning, cruise, tilt wheel. Bought it with 30k miles on the rebuilt 454 and have only driven it about 500 miles. Thinking about lowering it, new wheel/tire combo and just driving it, its nice and drives really well.

Re: The first ever 73-91 Burb post your ride thread!
Thanks Nonarb76! I've had to do some work to it, new hood and front passenger door, resprayed it the factory ppg 2188 "Hawaiin Blue", but added the white two-tone, looks period correct. New carpet, headliner, and stainless trim as well. Just a great driver, might sell it, might keep it!

Re: The first ever 73-91 Burb post your ride thread!
I was considering using these wheels on my '84 but was told the backspacing is different, did you use spacers or are the wheels "tucked in"? What size tires are those? And lastly is yours 2wd or 4wd?
Thanks in advance. I have an '84 2wd, & use it to pull a 26' enclosed car trailer so I need to use the "E"-load range tires

Re: The first ever 73-91 Burb post your ride thread!
Thanks Buffydores! I appreciate the compliments, the color is the original 1976 GMC Hawaiian Blue, it's been a fun truck to goof around with, and it really is just a nice driver for being 40 years old!

There aren't any spacers on the wheels they fit perfect. Tires are 305/70/16 Nitto Terra grapplers. The truck is a 3/4 ton 2wd.

The Hawaiian Blue is the best color. It's so rich and bright. Don't get too crazy on the mods, your rig is spectacular already.
