Another P/S Pump ?

I have a 2007 LS2 from a Trailblazer. When installing the motor into a 65 C10 the p/s resevoir wouldnt clear inside frame the frame rail. Im going to reuse the fittings from old sbc pump into the LS pump but im unsure which p/s pumps will fit in my factory accessory bracket and allow more room for clearance of frame. Im looking toward just getting new 2003 chevy truck pump from 4wd that would have used a gear box steering and not a rack. My truck has factory power steering gear box.

Express van pumps had a remote mount reservoir and a ton of clearance.

Where did the remote mount at on vehicle? Ive wondered if I should just install a whole new truck pump with reservoir being my current one was full of water from PO having engine covered with plastic outside. But another concern is if my pulley and all from current pump will work with the older model P/S pump. I can get a new truck pump with resrvoir for $50 bucks through our dealership.

Check this out. 2004 Express van 5.3L pump with reservoir. Just like an old 60's style reservoir but with remote fill. Should work great with just about any car/truck reservoir from pick n pull.

Could you just change the "can" the pumps look to be the same?

You can, in fact I reused my stock 1986 PS pump with the 2000 5.3L reservoir. Was easy since mine is a metric pump so all hardware swapped over.

Well I tried putting a 2003 Chevy truck pump on today and it won't fit into my bracket having the metal tank won't clear inside my frame. I guess I'm back to the drawing board. Probably going to try the express van with remote mount res, but unsure where will be best place to mount the tank? I wish there was something like a truck pump with tank altogether that would fit in factory location. And the bolts were also too big to fit through the pulley bracket. Guess I'll keep reading

Try using a GMT 800 bracket to match your GMT 800 P/S pump, Your GMT 360 Bracket is the issue....The pump is mounted lower.

Thats an idea, what al will be involved with swapping it over? Will all alternator and everything all re attach onto the other mounting bracket? Im still looking all over for anyone having a pump with a tank that would fit. Im not against remote mount tank like express van but im not able to find any infor where the tank will mount and all.

Tank will mount pretty much anywhere you want it. As far as plumbing, see if you can get diagrams from your dealership connection. I have an idea in my head of how it works but a diagram would be better.

Well from what I gathered from GM parts guy I need to install the whole alternator p/s pump bracket from a 2004-06 chevy truck. Which will allow use of truck pump but wont require any other modifications. Sound correct? All other pulleys and all will remain the same.

Yea that sounds correct. From looking at the Trailblazer pump I see what he's saying, it's completely different, not a saginaw pump. You should be able to use any 99+ truck bracket and pump. LS1tech classifieds is a great source, or even just run to your local pick and pull? Should be able to easily find a bracket and pump. PS Pulley is the same all the way back to like 1988 Serpentine engines, and just use a truck belt.

You got it!, '99-'06 brackets will work.
