Where to find GMC rear brake drums??

Been searching for rear brake drum for my '65 GMC 1/2 ton. Anybody have suggestions or have a good one willing to sale. This is last part I need for restoration, I found one on eBay but can not find another one that's usable at
Least. Here is one I bought off eBay it has its 11"x2" but instead of the Chevy which are flat it an offset.

Re: Where to find GMC rear brake drums??

Thanks for all the suggestions, yea I searched the forum about this issue so I'm not asking a question that's already been answered. I read that thread about using the jeep ones but never saw if that actually worked or not and I look everyday on eBay and for that centric 122.66037 but always says out of stock. Does anyone know if going with the jeep drums works or anyone that would have the centric 122.66037?

Is the centric 122.66037 exactly like the original? Been looking everywhere for it and it always says out of stock.

Re: Where to find GMC rear brake drums??

Finally found the centric 122.66037 through the centric.com website, they don't sale parts but they lists the places they distribute to. Before I buy it just want to see if anyone has bought these and used them on their GMC, I have a '65 GMC 1/2 ton don't want to spend $120 each and get here and not right ones? Here is link to website and picture

Re: Where to find GMC rear brake drums??

I don't know this for certain but my guess would be that if the trailing arms and coils were ordered on a '63-'66 GMC, the 12 bolt may have been used instead of the Dana 44 as was used with leaf springs.

Re: Where to find GMC rear brake drums??

Azlamm:
Raybestos 2067 is the other choice. It is for the front of a 72 4 wheel drive Blazer since the 4 wheel drive also uses a Dana 44 differential. Read all about it here:

Hope this helps.

Had not thought of that that..... would make sense that they used Chevy rear when ordered with coils

azlamm65GMC - did you end up getting those centric drums from partsbossonline? If so, how was your experience purchasing from them?

I've got a 65 GMC w/ rear leaf springs and can't find the right drums anywhere.

Re: Where to find GMC rear brake drums??

azlamm65GMC, curious to know what your final solution was. Looks like I'm in the same boat. Tried a few options, guess I need to track down part numbers also to compare.

Bill I assume you've seen this thread? http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=614719

I ended up getting Wagoneer drums at NAPA and paying a small fortune to get the center hole machined to the right size. They fit like a glove though, and the brake shoe is fully covered.

Re: Where to find GMC rear brake drums??

Glad to know you got something to work. I worked parts industry for years and never came across something like this, I was starting to think that my grandpa swapped this axle into it and since he's passed, there was no way of figuring out what it was out of but after reading through your thread and reading on the 6066gmcguy website it seems to be original. But I'll remember the 74 wagoneer drums. Thanks again

Re: Where to find GMC rear brake drums??

I originally posted in Rogers "rear brake dilemma" thread that I was going to use the 8106 drum on my 66 GMC with dana 44 leaf spring rear. Roger was correct that these are wrong even though they are listed several places. The drum I ended up using was a 1972 Chevy 4x4 drum as Solrio suggested in the same thread. The only mod that had to be done was I reamed out the lug holes with a cordless and twist bit to 9/16 to clear the lug shoulder. This took all of 5 minutes. These drums do appear much different than the stock GMC, they are finned and deeper. However these drums have a lip that actually extends over the backing plate negating the extra depth. The external cooling fins do not interfere with my stock rims. In 2016 these drums are available at auto zone, advance auto, and Napa. All 3 in my area would have to order them in w 2-3 day wait. I got mine at Napa, 2 days and 53$ each. I hope this helps to let people know that a suitable solution is widely available.
Brian
