Gauge cluster and bezels
Hey there, I have a original un-molested 72 tach/vac with a good bezel. Tach is tested and have a very early new aftermarket wood grain decal (thick one), 60lbs oil and V8 tach. I'm caught between putting it up as is $ or getting the bezel re-chromed and putting in some work to restore it what would it be worth then. Trying to weight in cost/time with opinions.
Also have a 67-68 silver 7-hole bezel w/choke hole that is in awesome shape. Any input is appreciated, thanks |

Re: Gauge cluster and bezels
The tach / vac cluster if it was restored with an aftermarket bezel, either black and chrome or a wood grain is worth in the area of $575.00 to $600.00 if you have a tach harness with it. Providing everything works and it is like new cosmetically inside and out. It looks like a real nice cluster as is.
I am not sure what it would cost to have your existing bezel re-chromed but I would bet it would cost more than you would get in return. There is just not enough market in original restored bezels thanks to the aftermarket. Only those who are doing the 100% spot on perfect restorations would consider paying the price for the work on the bezel. As far as the 67 bezel, $25.00 - $35.00 if it does not have any major cracks in it. The common crack location is on the side screw holes. Hope this helps, Take care, Tom

Re: Gauge cluster and bezels
Thanks Tom, I'm most likey gonna put in some elbow grease on this and shine it up. As far as the bezel goes you gave me some good insight on what the demand would be. Not too many guys out there doing a spot on resto that would be interested in it, but that being said the bezel is just to darn nice to overlook not putting in some time into it just for the heck of it to see if someone may need it. I appreciate your response, thanks again
