But a plan is starting to form. The 64 burb has a bad body but the 60 carryall has the earlier less desirable chassis. Use the best of both and combine with a 5.3, 4l60 and disc rear all from an 02 that I have. Toss the bulbous hood and use a 65 GMC hood thats out back. New gauges and static drop and some 16" artillery wheels with wide whites. Nothing too radical but all well done.

Of course the plan is all adaptable because this one is a 'build to suit' truck and I haven't found the new owner yet. So, for now, its going out on the range with the rest of the herd.

Another thought… this carryall is so complete that it would be a candidate for a complete restoration should the right person come along.

I will post more pics as i can and also the 64 burb when i get it here…
When you start replacing engine and transmission, I would like to get a hold of the transmission.
Thank,
Tim

Re: found 60 carryall

Looking at the various replies Clem, it seems this one could go any way. Having it out back with the herd is a great idea though.

Allows it t mature and come out just right.

I do like that tow hitch. Very pretty.

I never made it to see your stash previously. This one will add a bit of interest too.

Cool find but you know, being complete and a GMC, it has to be an OEM resto now.

I have that exact same trailer hitch set up on my 62 SWB C-10, also originally a California truck.

If you look underneath the ball mount, it almost looks like it may be some sort of early load distribution style hitch?

It mounts in several locations, distributing the load across the back of the frame real well too.

I thought about removing it, but for nostalgias sake (and usefulness) I'll probably end up just leaving it in place.

i'm with ya on leaving it in place.

went back to the site to pick up the 64 burb. this one is no where as nice but has some good options still there. factory air, power steer and brake, most of the custom chrome and those very rare swivel bucket seats.

still worth dragging home... heres what it looks like.
