6.0 with 5.3 harness
I have a 6.0 and harness for 4l80e, I am going to use 4l60e (it was free OK). now I cannot find info on modifying harness to work with the 60 from 80 so I am thinking I can use a 5.3 harness that is already 60e ready. flash PCM with new tranny and other mods to start. anyone done this, and I on the right track? any and all comments/ suggestions are welcome!!

Yes that will work.

Re: 6.0 with 5.3 harness
You will need to make sure they both have the same injector plugs though. A 2004 5.3 could have flex fuel injectors that take different plugs.

Re: 6.0 with 5.3 harness
I will check that out tomorrow. I don't think that truck had the flex fuel badging though. How can I be sure? does that injector have a different look to it? Thanks for the tip by the way.

Re: 6.0 with 5.3 harness
like said above, the plug receptacle on the flex fuel injector is different. take an injector and see if the plug on the harness will connect. if not, pigtails are available to convert. it's two wires per injector.

Re: 6.0 with 5.3 harness
Hello 70inbville. The pig tail or Transmission connector(the Pins) from a 4L80E can be switched to operate 4L60E. The directions are available from
www.Lt1swap.com. I haven't tried it, to see if it works, but im waiting on some other information in reference to the wiring of a 4L60E. Try it out. from LT1swap.com, its only 3 pins in the plug that need to be changed around. I also provide pics of a flex fuel injector and a regular truck intake injector. the connectors, that plug into the regular truck injector is different from the flex fuel injector. preference wise, I like the flex fuel injector because its connector secures itself to the flex fuel injector. the regular truck injector is easy to pull out from the injector. ask me how I know? good luck and tell us how it goes. |

Re: 6.0 with 5.3 harness
I have found TONS of info to go from 60 to 80 but nothing the other way around. I have looked at lt1swap and other than tracing from the pcm to the trans harness with each wire I didn't find a "quick" way to do it. I am pretty well set on starting my harness overhaul with the 5.3 harness, and not add headache with trans wiring also. Thanks for the injector pics. Chip

Re: 6.0 with 5.3 harness
The easiest way to do it is to just get a 4.8/5.3 harness. It will run either motor and will plug into the 60 no problem
