My favorite engine. That was the engine to have when I was a kid.

Re: Wish me LUCK !

Update , I just heard from Gordy that they found his car it was purchase by a man in NY and he is already rebuilding it and they invited Gordy to see it race again for the first time in quite a while this July in Syracuse ,NY and then in August he's going to a reunion of the original 6 super Chevy guy's in MO . He'll be lit up for months to see his old car run again and his racing buddies .

Re: Wish me LUCK !

Ive decided to send 2 sets of original correct date matched carbs back to the Holley custom speed shop in Bowling Green KY to be restored Provided the cost isn't crazy money . They offer rebuild and Dichromating back to original look and function . Rebuilding them is no big deal and only the center carb has the idle circut and accelorator pump but they will restore the correct color back to original . Anyone use this service before ?

Re: Wish me LUCK !

I've had plenty of carbs restored, but not by Holley. I had a couple of Quadrajet's restored last summer and they were in the $400 to $450 range.

A guy in NJ did those. A guy in Arizona did my Corvette.

BTW; I will be in Bowling Green for the Tri Five nationals in August. I could pick the carbs up for you and store them. HE HE HE.

Your willing to store them for me ? Great I should probably send you the freshly soda blasted intakes so you have something for them to sit on and probably the new correct fuel lines and linkage I just ordered so I don't miss place anything ....NOT GONNA HAPPEN , But nice try tho !

I'm not even going to ship them I'll drive out there and drop them off and pick them up when done .it would be my luck they would be lost or damaged in transit . I'm going to take the complete set up with the manifolds so they can set the correct linkage and I didn't want to install them on a newly rebuilt engine and run it up and adjust the carbs and timing all at the same time

The engines are still on the trailer tarped and will be going out to be rebuilt this week ,All in all a serious hit to the old wallet !

Re: Wish me LUCK !

Tri power carbs are so easy to adjust. Just a simple as a single two barrel carb since the center carb is the one with the idle circuits.

Years ago I had a 72 Firebird with a tri power 455 in it. People would always tell me I would have trouble with that set up. I just laughed. It had the old Rochester 2GC carbs on it. Can't get any simpler. It was a blast to drive.

Re: Wish me LUCK !

Yeah , I wouldn't hesitate to rebuild these carbs at all like you say there's not much to them .The biggest reason of sending them out is to have them restored to factory colors , I've been doing some searching in here and haven't found anyone who is running a Tri power 427 yet , a couple of small blocks or guys who just bought 3 of the same carbs and had fits trying to make them work, also many thinking it would suck gas not realizing it's only running as a 2 barrel until you start getting into it .

Re: Wish me LUCK !

It's no the fault of the carb, but I am usually in suck gas mode.
