72 LSX mounts without cutting frame?

Hey guys I have a powder coated rolling frame that I want to use so Im looking for swap mounts that place the engine where I dont have to notch the frame to clear anything. Has anyone successfully done this? Its a 72 2wd frame and Ill be using a 5.3 truck motor. Dont want to mess up the powder coat job if I dont have to.

I'm not aware of any of the mounts that require doing anything to the frame. Some manifolds/headers and AC require it, so it really depends on what you want to do with the truck.

ive seen a couple swaps where they cut into the frame to clear the a/c and headers like you mentioned. im trying to avoid that so i dont mess with the powder coat.

Are you planning on running AC? What exhaust setup do you want to run?

I believe the Tejas mounts are a little higher and farther forward, which lets you run the stock AC setup.

Doug Thorley headers and hi-mount compressor bracket = no cut frame.

sounds like the tejas mounts are for square body trucks.

And trailblazer SS manifolds seem to be a good OEM option to clear the frame

I bought these for the '67 Panel Truck with the LS1/4l60e combo and they fit like a glove..... You can also get them in a coated version.

cut, turn and weld the stock truck manifold flange to clear the frame. stock manifolds are cast steel (not cast iorn) and very easy to weld

Have you looked at Dirtydingo adjustable engine mounts and sanden compressor mounts

Re: 72 LSX mounts without cutting frame?

I second the Hooker manifolds. No cutting required. Now if you plan to use the factory LS Truck A/C compressor location, you're going to have to do some crazy custom lines to avoid cutting the frame.

I have a 69 C10 and I built a 5.3 and mated it to a 700r4. I used Early Classic motor mounts, Early Classic transmission crossmember for 700r4, and Hedman LS Swap headers. My truck is lowered so I also used the Holley oil pan so that the original truck pan wouldn't be hanging below my front crossmember. The Early Classic statement about cutting the frame is for the older C10's, not the 67-72 year models. Everything lined up great and worked just fine for my application. The motor mounts also move the motor fwd away from the firewall so you have plenty of room on the back side. I think their design allows for you to easily slick the firewall off if you want.

I built a jig out of wood to simulate the motor mounts and bottom of oil pan. I also built a mating jig to simulate the motor mounts on the block and bottom of the oil pan. I used this to align and measure my motor mount locations in the frame prior to drilling the extra holes required in the crossmember and to also keep things square because the mounts have elongated holes and they also have a high and low bolt pattern.
