Canister purge solenoid
So I have this E-rod engine package and I'm hooking up
the engine wiring harness. It's all labeled pretty well. One of the labels just says CPS. it is a little plug. Most of the plugs are obvious where they go, but not this one. I guessed it might be crankshaft position sensor, except I can't find one on the engine. It does have a 5 pin plug already, down by the crankshaft. The only thing not plugged in is the canister purge solenoid valve, and this plug would fit there....so? I've searched the web for pictures of a crank shaft sensor, but can't find a picture with location. Does anyone know a source for good pictures of an LC9 harness install?

Re: Canister purge solenoid
The crankshaft position sensor would have a three pin plug. The sensor is hidden away above and behind the starter. It can be plugged in without removing the starter. Picture link below.

Re: Canister purge solenoid
Awesome!
I saw a similar picture. I do have that plug back by the starter, and a knock sensor down on the block by there also. So do you think CPS stands for canister purge solenoid? all these crazy acronyms!

Re: Canister purge solenoid
I took off the purge solenoid for my install (no emissions). But if I recall correctly, the solenoid was on the top of the intake, towards the front of the engine, just back from the throttle body.
Mine looked like this: http://www.1aauto.com/vapor-canister...FceBfgod36cIZA I don't know your harness specifics, but maybe you could use the wire color to help you figure out where the connector goes. For example, the following link is for 2004 to 2007 vortech harness. It indicates the EVAP solenoid goes to pin 34 (Dark green/white wire) and 45 (white wire) of the green connector. http://www.lt1swap.com/2004vortec_pcm.htm

Re: Canister purge solenoid
You were right.
I have the crankshaft position sensor down by the starter. The CPS is for the charcoal Canister Purge Solenoid. It's on the driver side of the intake manifold on mine. Thanks

Re: Canister purge solenoid
I also have this plug on the back of the engine.
I don't have any plug for this on my harness. It sits in the valley between the heads in the back, and the sensor appears to point down into the valley. Any thoughts?

Re: Canister purge solenoid
A tech at Pace performance says it is an unused sensor
for Displacement on demand... I don't have DOD on my setup. probably like you said, a Cam sensor of some sort. Thanks.
